Watching Cricket

As well as playing the game over 55 years I’ve been to many games in that time which is set to continue for many more years hopefully.

Whilst living in the South East it was easy to get to matches at Lords and in those days tickets were easy to come by and affordable. You could pay on the gate for most matches and sit on the grass in front of The Tavern. I managed to spot myself in a recent re-run of the match on Sky and was also in the opening credits for Grandstand as Mike Brealey took a towering catch in front of us to dismiss Andy Roberts. The damage had been done by then with Richards getting 138 and Collis King smashing a rapid 86 off 66 balls. This was the game that Brearley and Boycott pursued that big target by scoring 138 in 38 overs in test match mode leaving the likes of Randall, Gooch, Gower, Botham and Larkins no chance of getting anywhere the target of 286 and England collapsed to 194 all out. I expect there were a few choice words between Beefy and Boycott after that.
